It all started the day Jason realized he was starting to forget the sound of his mother’s voice.

As a professional photographer, Jason had taken so many photos of her: lighting sparklers with her grandchildren on the Fourth of July, eating lunch at the local pizza parlor.

But what he found himself missing was her voice.

•Her strong Rhode Island accent.
•The way she’d laugh ‘til she cried when she realized Jason was recording a video—when she thought he was only taking a photo.
•How she’d click her tongue when she realized she was wrong about something.

It was too late for Jason to sit down and record her sharing her favorite memories and stories.

But maybe it’s not too late for you.

At The Legado Project, we’re obsessed with preserving memories, stories, and voices.

We do this by recording a curated interview with you or a loved one in a relaxed, casual setting. We ask questions designed to coax out the details of the interviewee’s experiences, memories, and personality. Throughout the process, we snap photos using a remote (so we never break the flow of the interview).

The result? A beautiful keepsake consisting of a printed photo book + audio interview that you can give as a gift or enjoy for yourself.

But we know you’re wondering:

“Can’t I just record my parents / spouse / adult children with my phone?”

Yes, and we hope you do! Personal recordings capture spontaneous, unguarded moments that are deeply authentic. They reflect the raw, everyday reality and personal connections within a family.

But The Legado Project gives you something different—something that you can’t capture on your own, no matter how hard you try.
We bring a level of artistry, quality, and depth that personal efforts might miss.

But most importantly, we afford a unique advantage: the fresh perspective of an outsider.

When family members share their stories with us—outsiders who are hearing them for the first time—it naturally encourages a fuller, more detailed narration.

This dynamic alone ensures that stories are captured in their entirety, preserving nuances and aspects that might otherwise be overlooked in familiar settings.

But as Shakespeare said, “What’s past is prologue.”

We can’t help but feel that it was all leading up to this.

We believe The Legado Project is the most important work we’ll ever do—that we’ve been called to help people keep these memories alive.

And we can’t wait for you to be a part of it.

Hi! We’re Jason + Allison Domingues.

We’ve been running our photography business—Jason Domingues Photography—since 2004. During that time, we’ve made a name for ourselves telling visual stories from weddings, concerts, family portraits, and more.

You might say that as the photographer, Jason is the “right brain” of the business, and Allison, as the head of operations, is the “left brain” of the business.

We’ve had the honor of:

•Being published in The Knot and Rolling Stone, among others
•Winning 2 Fearless Awards (plus 2 nominations)
•Topping many, many “best of” lists

Fun facts about us (these will be on the quiz)

As the grandson of Portuguese immigrants, Jason’s Portuguese heritage is literally his legacy (legado).

Allison loves—and we mean loves—animals. She was always a 100% cat person, but Nellie (our terrier, Basenji, random mix good girl) is slowly pulling her over to the dark (we mean dog) side. (Sorry Lily, Pete, Angelo, and Alfred E. Cat!)

Allison only drinks decaf. Even in the mornings. (And she’s not sorry about it.)

Jason proudly served our country in the US Army for 3 years.

Allison is a diehard K-State fan. EMAW! (If you know, you know.)

Jason always has some sort of new hobby brewing. Currently: constructing and sewing custom hoodies. Next month? Who knows?!?

We’ve been married since our early 20s and we’re stronger than ever.

We LOVE to travel. Our next destinations: Portugal (obviously), Turks and Caicos for its beaches, and a tour of US National Parks so we can see the most beautiful and awe-inspiring parts of our country.
